About Illinois Virtual School (IVS)
Illinois State Board of Education’s Statewide Virtual School
The IVS program is administered through the Peoria County Regional Office of Education, a member of the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools (IARSS). The Peoria ROE was awarded the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) contract to manage and operate the Illinois Virtual School (IVS) on April 1, 2009.
ISBE’s virtual program (IVHS and now IVS) has provided leadership to accelerate the adoption and use of online learning within Illinois. Working in partnership with public and private schools throughout Illinois, IVS offers online classes to students in grades 5-12, as well as professional development self-paced and facilitated courses to educators for ISBE approved PD Clock Hours.
IVS employs only Illinois licensed, highly qualified teachers. One of our teachers, Jim Kinsella, has even been featured in an Education Week article, "Teachers Make the Move to the Virtual World".
