Illinois Virtual School Closure - June 30, 2022

The Peoria Regional Office of Education is closing the Illinois Virtual School (IVS) on June 30, 2022. Since 2001, the staff and teachers of IVS have tirelessly provided a needed service to the students and families of Illinois. IVS originally started as a contract with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and then shifted to a grant where IVS operated as our State’s official supplemental virtual school provider. However, beginning January 1, 2020, ISBE moved to a course catalog model which eliminated the annual grant to operate IVS. As a non-profit entity, the elimination of the grant and the move to the course catalog model is not sustainable for business operations.

For questions or concerns about the closing of IVS, please contact Beth Crider at [email protected] or (309) 672-6906.

IVS students are currently completing their final term, ending May 13, 2022. At this time, no summer enrollment options are available.

If you have an immediate need for course enrollment, you may wish to investigate other options listed in the Illinois Virtual Course Catalog.

Limited IVS staff are available to serve you through June 30, 2022.

We have implemented reduced phone (309-676-1000) hours from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Questions or concerns may be directed by email to our helpdesk at [email protected] at any time.
