American History and Consumer Economics

I have been teaching for 13 years now, working as a middle school and high school social studies and business teacher. I currently teach middle school in the suburbs of Chicago, but have taught in central Illinois, as well as overseas (for the United States Army, an on-base school). Moreover, throughout this time I have also taught as an adjunct instructor with the College of DuPage and Lincoln Land Community College.

I am certified in social science and career/technical education, with endorsements in history, government, geography, economics, business, computer applications, and as a technology specialist. I have my BA in history from Knox College in central Illinois, a Masters in instructional technology from Western Illinois University, and am working on my MA in history at Chicago State University - to be completed by the end of 2022.

Teaching was an interest of mine since my own high school days, where I took my first educational internship course while still a senior in high school. I have since always enjoyed working with young people and helping them connect their understanding of the present-day to an understanding of what came before them. I've also more recently found a deep enjoyment in teaching technology and business, as these more career-oriented courses allow me to help prepare kids for the new economy of the 21st century.
